The Holy Prophet (S.A.W.W.) said to Fatima: "I gave you in marriage to the first one to adhere to Islam from my nation, he is also the most knowledgeable and most patient among them." Bibi Fatima A.S is the most beloved daughter of Hazrat Muhammad S.A.W.W.She was the image of her father.Rasool S.A.W.W respected her to a great extent.He used to stand up and present her place to her.Rasool S.A.W.W said for her daughter: "Fatima is the true splendor." On the other hand,Imam Ali A.S is the cousin and closest one to Rasool S.A.W.W.He was the first to acknowledge the Prophethood.He remained side by side to the Rasool S.A.W.W at each and every moment whether it was the night of Hijrat or any war.For Imam Ali Rasool S.A.W.W declared: "Your conduct and looks are similar to mine, and you are from the same tree from which I came." "Ali is the best of my nation, most knowledgeable and most patient from among them" God gave victory to Islam in the battle of Badr in the year 2 of Hijri. Two months after the battle,Bibi Fatima A.S and Imam Ali A.S got married. When Bibi Fatima A.S grew up,two companions asked for her hand in marriage but Hazrat Muhammad S.A.W.W refused declaring: "This matter of the marriage of Fatima, my daughter, is in the hands of Allah Himself, and He alone will select a spouse for her" Two months after the battle of Badr, i.e., in the month of Zilqaad (the 11th month) of 2 A.H., Imam Ali A.S. called on Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa S.A.W.W , and said: "O Messenger of God, you have brought me up as your own child. You have overwhelmed me with your gifts, your generosity and your kindness. I owe you everything in my life. Now I seek one more kindness from you." Hazrat Muhammad S.A.W.W understood and his face lightened up.Rasool S.A.W.W then informed his daughter who was very contented with Allah decision. On the last day of Zilqaad (the 11th month), Hazrat Muhammad S.A.W.W, invited the Muhajireen and the Ansar, to attend a banquet, on the occasion of the marriage of his daughter.He obtained, once again, the formal consent of his daughter for her marriage with Ali ibn Abi Talib. The Holy Prophet PBUH praised Allah, and thanked Him for all His mercies. He then read the sermon of marriage; declared Hazrat Ali A.S. and Bibi Fatima husband and wife. A few days later, i.e., in Zilhajj (the 12th month),Bibi Fatima Zahra had to bid farewell to her parental home so she could go to the house of her husband. Her father assisted her in riding his camel. Medina rang with the shouts of Allah-o-Akbar. Hazrat Salman Frasi held the reins of the camel, and walked in front of it, as he recited Quran. Rasool S.A.W.W walked on one side of the camel, and Hazrat Hamza, on the other. All the young ones of Banu Hashim rode as escorts of the bride, with gleaming swords held high. Behind them were the Muhajir and Ansar women, and behind them came the Muhajireen and the Ansar themselves. They were reciting from Al-Quran al-Majid to the glory of God. The recitation of hymns was punctuated from time to time by thunderous shouts of Allah-o-Akbar. They reached the house of Imam Ali A.S. Rasool S.A.W.W symbolically placed the hand of Bibi Fatima A.S. in the hand of her husband, and then,said the following prayer: "O Allah! I commend Fatima and Ali, Thy humble slaves, to Thy protection. Be Thou their Protector. Bless them. Be pleased with them, and bestow Thy boundless grace, mercy, and Thy best rewards upon them. Make their marriage fruitful, and make both of them steadfast in Thy love, and Thy service." The marriage life of the two is the role model for all followers.Bibi Fatima A.S.worked day and night to run the internal affairs of the house.She used to tire but never complained.Hazrat Ali helped his wife in house matters. Allah gifted the couple with four children.Imam Hasan A.S.,Imam Hussain A.S. Bibi Zainab and Bibi Umme Kulsoom.The progeny of Hazrat Muhammad S.A.W.W was through Bibi Fatima.The last descendant of the aulad of imam Ali a.s. and Bibi Fatima(a.s.) is still alive and is in major occultation and would re-appear to fill the earth with justice and peace. May Allaah hasten the re-appearance of Hazrat-e-Hujjat (a.t.f.s) and count us among his true followers.
